Collection of Resources

This week I had the pleasure of reading some content resources that focuses on the topic of Children.

The internet is filled with resources that examines the methodologies of childcare.  Resources vary from experts researchers, seasoned teachers, policy makers, philosophers, psychologists, and parents.  Each resource offers insight and guidance when it deals with caring and teaching children.

Some resources will validate your personal philosophies and others will act as a contradictions to your mission and personal belief.  That is the wonders of childcare, there is no one right way.  There is space and room for them all.  As children do not all grow and develop the same or at the same rate, there is a place for the varying resource information.  Here are a few examples of resources that I found interesting.  Enjoy!

  1. I am really intrigued by the Assessing and Guiding Young Children's Development and Learning book. I have new staff that started and I think just a few chapters on child development might help have a better understanding on that. Thank you for your choices of sources!

  2. I love that you point out the fact that children learn and develop differently. I think so many parents think that they should have children that are at the top, or should be doing what everybody else in the class is doing. I think that remembering that each child is an individual is so important.
    Thank you for the reminder,

  3. I would have to completely agree with Jennifer Faul! Child do learn differently. I have heard so many times from parents with a second child that they feel like they are learning how to be a parent all over again because they are so different from the first. Also thanks for sharing that book Assessing and Guiding Young Children's development and Learning. I check that out and it is certainly a handy little guide to have.
