Words of Inspiration and Motivation

"The responsibility for educating a young person is not the student's responsibility alone, nor is it the job of the teacher alone, nor is it the obligation of the parents alone. It is a responsibility that belongs to all of us. Because we all reap the benefits when our citizens are well educated."
Opening Session Remarks by Dr. Jill Biden | july 2009

"The true direction of the development of thinking is not from the individual to the social, but from the social to the individual".

Lev S. Vygotsky
"What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow".
Lev S. Vygotsky

"Take your ego out of and think about what is best for each child".
Renata M. Cooper

  1. I really relate to the quote written by Lev Vygotsky about the child and assistance. I believe that once you just introduce something to a child on one day they will pick it up the next. I work in the infant / toddler room and granted learning to use a spoon during meal time has not been perfected but just having that experience to hold it, touch it, and just modeling how to do that will someday happen. Good choices of quotes.

  3. I love your quotes, especially the ones from Dr. Jill Biden! I agree wholeheartedly, that it is all of society's responsibility to make certain children are educated and cared for. Children are everyone's future!

  4. I like the quote from Dr. Jill Biden (July 2009). It reminds me of a story that we learned in our Foundations: Early Childhood (6005-2)about this 8-year old girl that had 9 individuals (family, as well as others) who were close to her and support her in a special way. They showed love and concern, and their hope for her future. The way they showed love and concern for her future is by spending time, communicate, teaching her things, and exploring and discover things with her, and especially doing the things that she loves to do, but before they begin to do all of those things, they instill in her how special she is.
Working with children can be rewarding. It takes the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of the individual working them to gain the reward. Using Early Childhood Educator as a example, it take more than knowledge gained to work with children. It take showing love, support, and understanding. It also take trust, and just like Mahaley's support system, it takes pouring into the lives of children that will build their self-confident and self-esteem that move them toward success.
